Before COVID-19, there was the Spanish Flu, and centuries before that, the Bubonic Plague. 
In both of these periods, there was an identifiable, hedonistic period that developed directly after the pandemics. For example, from the Spanish Flu Pandemic rose the Jazz Age. From the Bubonic Plague, the Renaissance.
